Coffee Club
The Coffee Club, part of Minor DKL Food Group, partnered with Telstra and Clarity ICT to modernise its store network and create a more reliable, scalable digital foundation for the future.
The business had been operating on an outdated and costly MPLS network that limited bandwidth across stores. This caused slow internet speeds, unreliable phone calls, interruptions to point-of-sale systems and poor guest Wi-Fi performance. Franchise partners were also spending more than needed on connectivity, while internal IT teams were frequently pulled into troubleshooting recurring issues.
To solve this, Telstra and Clarity ICT designed and delivered a cloud-first SD-WAN solution using Cisco Meraki hardware and Telstra business broadband services. The approach allowed The Coffee Club to retain existing hardware while improving network performance, reliability, security and resilience. Integrated 4G backup also helped support business continuity across franchise locations.
The rollout was delivered through a highly collaborative approach, with Telstra leading technical design and Clarity ICT managing project coordination, logistics and on-site delivery. After successful pilot testing, the solution was deployed to more than 220 stores, finishing around six months ahead of schedule.
The impact was significant. Franchise partners saw network costs cut in half, internet speeds increase by up to five times and customer Wi-Fi become more reliable. Stores also benefited from improved telephony, faster online ordering and better access to business tools such as CCTV.
The transformation delivered $360,000 in first-year savings, with projected ongoing annual savings of approximately $505,000, while giving The Coffee Club a future-ready network to support continued growth and digital innovation
